Check lens contacts on body and.battery contacts on body, clean with contact cleaner or pencil eraser in a pinch.

If that doesn't fix it look up dead battery syndrome. You had the camera long?

only had camera 4 weeks got it on flebay hopeing it will be beter than my 400d i will try all your tips and hope for some luck
thanks lots

thanks a lot i think you have sorted it the generic grip is a bad fit shoud have went for a canon one again many thanks for your help

Not had that problem with any of my grips, however I do use only one make so maybe I just hit on a good one.

Canons prices for grips are shocking.

Yup looked at the price of a spare battery for my newly aquired 1d3, I thought the one for my 5d2 was bad but I felt very fient after looking at this one.

£95 for a battery jeepers what are they thinking of :(

Yeah they are, but then again used BG-E2 grips are not bad at the moment I picked mine up in like new condition for only a few quid more then a generic one. It only takes one small voltage problem to negate the original extra cost.
