Canon 300mm f4 IS USM

I've got one and have to say it's the sharpest lens I've ever owned. Had it six years, been used on both hot and Arctic conditions, no problems at all. Simply brilliant and well worth the cash

Watched the digital rev video review on these the other day and quite fancy one. Anybody got one? What's it like?

A very good lens and I'd certainly recommend one - I think the only reason I'd upgrade would be if I could afford the 2.8.

This is a super-sharp, relatively lightweight lens which takes a x1.4 TC well. Doubt you will regret getting one.

If I moved back to Canon this would be more-or-less the first lens I would purchase (again).

I watched it earlier and even thought it would be worth picking one up, then remembered I have the 300 2.8IS but still checked for them looking at possibly kitting out a 2nd photographer for outdoor sports and saw the 1Dmk4 and 300 in the clasifieds for £2.5k

I have a 70-200 f2.8 IS but fancy a little more length for athletics etc.

I don't think you'll regret one - i've used a 1.4TC on mine very successfully as well.

Here's one from a while ago with the 300mm

Here's one when I was playing with how slow I could shoot - seem to remember this was around 1/60sec

Had one since 2007. Sharp, goes pretty well with a convertor. AF is a bit slow though. It seems to have a longer throw than some lenses.

Recently put mine up for sale to use a 70-200 f2.8 MkII and a 1.4 instead but after a little think decided to hang on to it *** its a great little lens.
