Canon 300d

Hey guys,
Just starting to get into all this photography business and have just bought a 300d the other week. I got it with the following:
Body
18-55 kit lens
58mm fisheye add on
Cannon bag
Tripod
Battery grip
2gb memory card

Got it all for £140. Good price?

Anyone had any experience with this camera? Any tips?

Also, im looking for a good all-round lens. Maybe a 18-200? Any recommendations? Cheepish please!

hi i had used this camera for a while really enjoyed using it and would recomend it and yes that is a fantastic price i have a book upstairs about the 300D sort of a quick refrence guide instead of trying to read the manual if you want it pm me your adress i will send it out monday for you if u want it

I used to have this camera too. There was a firmware hack for it which unlocked extra features. Can't remember what it was called, think it was a Russian chap that hacked it.

300D was my first DSLR and a very nice camera to start with.

It was my first dslr but in a very short time I found it very limiting.If you want to shoot fast action you need to use sports mode and you cant shoot raw in this mode. The russion hack sorts it out.

i used to have a 300D, never bothered with the firmware hack as most said it wasnt worth the hassle.

only thing i missed with it and is the main reason i upgraded to the 20D was AI SERVO.

edit - mind you AI SERVO isnt necessarily needed, good pics are possible without. couple example sets:

I had a 300D & used the hack to enable high ISO. I found it to be an excellent camera & only really upgraded to get a higher frame rate. The only real difference I've found between my 300D days & now is a higher keeper ratio

Re the lens part of the Q ..... look at both the Tamron & Sigma range. They both do a 18-200mm and give very good performance for the price. Both T & S are well respected independent lens manufacturers and you get a lot of bang for your buck
