I all, I've had a canon EF70-200 f/4 white lens for some time and have purchased the canon white 2x II extender, I've gone to use it with the above lens and it does not auto focus?
Is this correct. All the settings are on auto not manual and works fine with just the lens on the body.
Thanks for your response, newbe

It will be correct unless you are using a 1D body. Non 1D Canon bodies will not autofocus at f/8. The 2x extender changes your lens to a f/8, you'll be ok with a 1.4x extender.

You don't say what body you are using.

A friend borrowed it with a 70-200 f/2.8 on a 500 body and it worked fine?

Thats because it is a 2.8 lens and only the centre AF will work, what camera model do you have? as Admirable said unless you have 1D series then AF is not going to work on an F4 lens and again it would only be the centre AF

Hi

As as above

The 2x TC drops it down stops, so the F2.8 becomes a 5.6, which all the DSLR Canon bodies will still AF at, unfortunately, the F4 then becomes F8 (if my maths are right today) - which as admirable says, you need a 1D for

Hope this helps to clear it up...
