Hi,

anyone here use the canon EF 28-300mm L series lens. im interested to know what its like as i cannot find any good reviews for it on google.

im thinking this would make a nice outdoor wedding lens ?

With ever super zoom you will probably have to stop it down a bit to get the best out of her, so aslong as you are using it outdoor, i dont think there will be much of a problem. What body are you going to be using it on? If its a 400d, 40d or any of the 1.6 crop factors then 28mm may not be wide enough.

it will be used on the 5D, another lens that seems quite popular is the 50-500mm sigma which i like the range of but is the quality there

i don't know what lenses you already have, but if i was doing weddings, i'd take a 24-70 f2.8 L and a 70 - 200 f2.8 L is lens and i'd be confident i could cover 99% of the shots required. i haven't used the 28-300 L myself, but from what i've heard it's fine but a bit of a compromise because of the length of range it has.

IMHO and based on having handled one for about 30 sec I would not recommend this lens. It has a cheap and nasty feel to it and not worthy of L classification...

That said, it is from the same basic design as the 100-400 which many on here are very happy with.

Personally I wouldn't buy either...but that is just me...

I would imagine that a suitable wedding lens would be both constant aperture and parfocal...the 28-300L misses out on both counts
