With ever super zoom you will probably have to stop it down a bit to get the best out of her, so aslong as you are using it outdoor, i dont think there will be much of a problem. What body are you going to be using it on? If its a 400d, 40d or any of the 1.6 crop factors then 28mm may not be wide enough.
I don't do weddings, so may be way off here. But do you really need that kind of length at a wedding? I certainly can't see anyone getting much use from a bigma. Surely something faster, with better optics but a bit less range would be preferable?
i don't know what lenses you already have, but if i was doing weddings, i'd take a 24-70 f2.8 L and a 70 - 200 f2.8 L is lens and i'd be confident i could cover 99% of the shots required. i haven't used the 28-300 L myself, but from what i've heard it's fine but a bit of a compromise because of the length of range it has.
IMHO and based on having handled one for about 30 sec I would not recommend this lens. It has a cheap and nasty feel to it and not worthy of L classification...
That said, it is from the same basic design as the 100-400 which many on here are very happy with.
Personally I wouldn't buy either...but that is just me...
