Does anyone have any experience with this lens CANON EF 28-300mm f3.5-5.6 L IS ?????????? I know it's a long focal span but it is L glass.

I can only find one reference to it on here in search. :thinking:

Opinions and experience welcomed.. :)
 
I'd say the build quality of this lens is "L+". You could batter somebody to death with it and it wouldn't harm the lens one bit.

Optically, of course there are going to be compromises when you're designing a 10x zoom. Of course it's not going to be as good as a 24-70 or a 70-200. But it's certainly not bad. Canon haven't tried to cut corners when they designed this one. The only significant gripes reported by reviewers on Fred Miranda are the weight and the cost.
 
wow thanks for the linky... the lens has very favourable reviews by the people who use it...just what i was after...anyone here use one?? any pics to show??
 
As Stewart says with an 11x zoom there is going to be some compromises. It all depends what camera you are going to use it on and what results are you expecting. I looked at this lens as an answer to carrying several other lenses around but concluded from other reviews that it would not deliver the quality I wanted when used with a FF camera.

Dare I say for the cost it may be worth hiring one for a few days to make sure it does what you want ....

Hmm I wonder who hires this lens........
