Yes
I'm just not getting on with my sigma 18-50 2.8 ,
so i'm hinking of selling that and replacing it with the 24mm 2.8 STM to use as a pair with my 50mm 1.8 STM

I'd like to hear reviews and feedback on the STM 24mm

as I have the 18-55 and the 50mm STM and both are corking lenses.

Anyone ?

No experience ?

Looked on DPR and it's rated very highly

I have it, and love it. I really cant find any negatives about it. I must admit i don't use it much as my 24-70 f/2.8 mkii covers this FL, and does it slightly better, but i have no hesitation to use it as a very lightweight combo with my 80D or 650D.
I have this and the 40mm f/2.8 and while the 24mm is more useful i prefer the 40mm for its longer reach.

You see I have the opposite problem, I have the 50mm 1.8 STM which I adore , but it's too close for most of what I do.

In theory the 18-50 2.8 is ideal ... but in practice I'm just not getting on with it , I need something fast and this just isn't , I even thought it was faulty because It was so slow compared to my other lenses
but it's not faulty... just takes its time lol , I can get a really good picture out of it , it turns out , but speed is not it's strong point.

So the 24mm is sounding like a good option for me at the moment

I took the 18-50 sigma to a big horse show , and when I could stand outside in good light , and prefocus a spot where I knew my subject was going to be (Like with showjumping courses) It got me some really nice , pin sharp photos.

But when I am at the beach trying to get photos of the dogs running around, there's no chance , it just can't focus quick enough , in that instance my 18-55 STM beats it hands down in terms of focus speed.

I think as long as you can live with the speed of a STM lens, and it sounds like you can, then id say go for it. Its very sharp, and so small it makes the camera seem like a mirrorless. Great for pubs/restaurants and social events (which is why i got it).
Although i personally find STM to be slow the 24mm seems more than fast enough. I guess there isnt a lot of travel so that helps. I never had much luck with my 40mm STM on my 5Dmkiii when tracking moving subjects, but as i understand it on the newer cameras like the 70D and 80D things are faster.

Hi

The EF-S 24mm is one of those lenses you can easoly have a love-hate relationship with.

I ended up giving mine to my niece on a long term 'loan'. She has it almost permanently on a 500D and gets some great shots. Simple reasoni - her main use is 'street' and 'land/sea/cityscape'. It is a lovely, lightweight lens and just does the job on a walkanout day. It really is a little slow at focussing but for the price (£95 after £20 canon cashback) it's a bargain. I ended up buying another. I also use the EF-S 18-135 STM as a walkabout - on the EOS750D it is comfortable and quick on AF. In small arena events it is very versatile. Not too weighty either. Cropping wider shots reveal the sharper central area but still good colours too.

Is there a real 'do everything' lens for general purpose?

I tried a Tamron 16-300 VC hyperzoom out. Liked it but..... not for me.

The 24mm is a super lens for the money but (excuse the pun) "It's horses for courses" you seem to need.

The EOS M with the 22mm f/2 STM is my preferred walkabout pocket camera (essentially a mirrorless EOS650D) very sharp pancake lens but not the fastest AF. The M2 and later (M10/M3) are quicker.
