Sorry if this is posted in the wrong bit, i've not been online for a while.
I'm looking to buy a Canon 24-70L but there seems to be no stock anywhere due to the problems in Japan. I don't want to place an order unless I'm gauranteed of stock. Anybody know when availabillity will improve?

I had looked on camera pricebuster and phoned a few places with no luck. Some are vague about stock and I'm guessing will still take the order if not in stock - maybe I'm just getting cynical in my old age?

I'm having as much luck as you trying to buy a 24-70L :(

Digitalrev on ebay show some stock but I think I'd be happier handing my money over the counter to somebody, I don't use ebay much and not too keen spending that much on there
 
not considered a 2nd hand one?
 
I did consider a second hand one but when looking on ebay prices are around the £800 mark so thought it better to pay the extra £200 - £300 for a new one when available
 
Jessops is showing available for collection, I tried 3 different areas but didn’t find any store with stock. Give their Head Office a ring to see which store has it. Considering the price of the item, they should do a stock transfer to your local branch or even send it to you direct.

You'll need to verify the condition of the lens, it may be the last one on display somewhere!

Jacobs also do store collections but I couldn’t check stock availability without logging in.
 
I was in Jessops yesterday and they said they had no listed stock and just under 500 on order
 
Ah well, I thought they would have one somewhere as the "Collect from store in 30 minutes" option was still there.

Have you tried Kerso, he still has them in stock as I ordered one on Sunday for a good price too!

Try T4 in swindon I think they have one. They also do mail order and have two other shops.
They are very reputable

Kerso has non in stock and digital rev replied with a price but no answer to availabillity :( might try T4 as in above post
 
after aa few calls I have located one about 200 miles away..apparently new in yesterday. Off on a drive in the morning and hopefully a newish date code?
