I am desperately trying to find a good wide angle lens, I know the 24-70 lens is good but can anyone suggest any cheap alternatives as my bank balance doesnt quite stretch to this :( help!

tamron 28-75 is about the best you can get for the money.

Depends if you're using full frame or crop. The 17-40L is one of my favourites and a fair bit cheaper than the 24-70 (if you're talking Canon). Plenty of good used versions of both around - and they hold their value well.

Hi,

As above, it depends on the format but also how wide you want to be.

I shoot full frame and I have the tamron 17-35 and did have the 19-35.
I found both to be perfectly acceptable for landscape, they're not ultra-sharp (but by no means soft) but they don't need to be at all, especially as they can be picked up for around £150 and £100 respectively.

If you have a crop camera then there is always the canon / sigma tamron / tokina 10ish - 20ish ranges
