Canon 24-105 Noise ( Not IS )

I recently purchased off the forum classifieds a Canon 24-105 and i've noticed today on its first test run that when i use the Zoom ring it makes a grinding noise.

I don't know if its me but im bit concerned that its on the start of a potential fault occurring or is the noise common on the 24-105, I haven't heard it on any of my other lenses tbh :thinking:

When i refered too not IS i was on about the noise, thats its not the IS motor BTW !

It's not right fella. Sounds like it could be a bit of grit that will go away with use, but otherwise there's perhaps something loose that needs fixing.
 
I have the 24-105 purchased 2nd hand from MBP. It definitely does not make a noise like that.
 
Cheers for confirming what i thought, that its not normal :(
Too look at it appears well looked after but obviously something isn't right and i don't fancy a potential repair bill so soon after just buying.. time to get onto the seller i think.

Good luck with that then - seems like these 24-105's are more trouble than they're worth.
