Canon 24-105 issue

Have cleaned contacts....no change, I'm guessing its now a doorstop or paperweight :(

Common issue with that lens... or at least some versions of it. Something to due with the diaphragm cable.
if its a common issue, you would think Canon would do something about it

I had this issue with mine just before the ribbon failed. As previously mentioned its a common fault and depending on the age of the lens depends on your warranty with Canon. Hopefully the Mk2 will phase out this issue.

I can be repaired by the way but I would send it to a pro to get done.

Ribbon Cable needs replacing by the sounds of it, Canon at Elstree are probably the best bet

Anyone attempted to repair themselves ??

I had this problem on mine and took it to Don Clark repairs in Wootton under Edge. Reasonably priced repair...much cheaper than a new one though.

MIles Whitehead Camera Repairs In Kent.

Google him and you will get contact info.

He is local so I did not have to pay postage either way. You would need to factor that in.

They really should it is common as muck on these and one of the crop kit lenses. They don't even offer the repair at a cost price when it is so obviously a design flaw!

Yes I do have one with the issue and yes I am bitter!

Has anyone challenged them with this ?
