Canon 1DX - Official Owners Thread

Fair point cheers Nigel, thank you

Dont let that stop you getting one, Chris. I went from a 7D to a 1Dx and some would say that is a huge leap, which technically it is. Its a 3 series BMW to a Ferrari which wasnt too bad, but i'm still learning how to get the best from it. The key was knowing the fundamentals of how to drive before upgrading

Hi Chris,

Why not download the 1DX handbook ( its free) & see if you understand any of it. If its too much of a challenge, then go for a camera that would make it easier to learn the basics on.
OK?
James

I see another firmware update is to be out shortly, 1.2.1.

If you want the details, look up Canon Rumours today, doesn't look huge but as they say, every little helps...
George.

An option to disable the image size selection button looks useful however I've already altered that one's default position...as I suspect have most people.

Made the jump from the 5DIII and fingers crossed should have it next week.

A lot to learn but saved like manic for a year for it!!

Where are you sourcing it from?

thanks

one for sale on here by ema747 he says its only done 800 clicks and hes asking £4000 ;)

Still think visuals.co.uk are amongst the keenest for genuine uk stock.
Currently 3660 plus vat. :)

Yep took about 750 shots at the Nottingham marathon a few days after buying it then a few test shots around the house. Since then it's been in its box. I had a job that I had lined up that would have paid for most of the cost of the camera. It fell through when they got someone to do it for free!! So I just can't justify keeping it.

Is my price about right or not?

I'd have thought so, Andy, must be a difficult decision to make, shame.

Did a search and got this

They had one in stock yesterday but must have sold it.

Phew their search engine needs a massive redesign.

A simple 1dx search should bring it up. Good price though.

I just typed in 1dx into the search bar and it showed up in the drop down menu

Anyone see any difference?..mine is at Elstree at the mo and I assume they will do it.

Mine's got it, Elstree did it during a service.
Haven't played with it since, though.

Advice please from the sports / wildlife photogs?

Of the AF servo modes which are people finding best for photographing moving objects coming towards the camera - runners, cyclists etc ?

I have it set on case 4 or 5

For cyclist and runners I would case 1 would probably be fine.

Thanks - confusing the Ai Servo settings, there are so many and then so many options to fine tune them further

Experiment, experiment, experiment. What may be good for one photographer does not warrantee it will work for you.
We could all give you our settings and, you could use that as a starting point but, every event requires small tweaks so, my advice is to learn your camera and, set it up to your needs. Eventually, it will become second nature!

Hey! Haven't got my 1DX yet (next couple of weeks - can't wait!) but wondering how long the battery lasts on average, anyone know?

What are you going to be shooting and what lenses will you be using ? IS ?

I'm hearing good to excellent reports of this camera. Is it worth me trading my Leica M9 and lenses for one?
