It's the Andre Percepied chain (shops in Nantes, Rennes and Vannes) trading as www.conceptwebphoto,fr for online sales.

It's all in French I'm afraid but I'll be more than happy to guide you along or sort it for you if you decide to run with it. I should warn you that it won't have a User Guide and other documents in English...they're Froggy, German, Italian and Dutch.

A heads up Tony...
The french dealer (with high street shops) that mine came from is now offering them for EUR 5391 (£4245 at today's exchange rate) and they include 4 years warranty. They're not grey market......they have Canon Europe warranty slips in the box.

Bob

avec un manuel d'instruction en Anglais????:lol::lol:..but seriously, Bob, does that include TVA??I might be able to reclaim that???...:thinking:

edit..oops, took too long to think about the translation there..

That's all inclusive George...I paid the advertised price and the invoice reverse calculated the TVA. Delivery is free here in France but I suspect it'll be extra to cross the ditch.

sorely empted even though i have never heard of them.. taking your word and happy to do so :) .. however I have emailed CPS to double check they would honour the warranty as they usualy say reciept must be from uk company.. asked for a quick response..

tried it just to see what the total comes out at ..its 5990 .thats 4,770 UKP so a saving of 500 pounds or thereabouts

I can only say that they took my dosh and delivered the camera. It was pre-ordered before the 1Dx's were released but arrived a couple of weeks ago.....not far behind the CPS priorities. I could have taken the CPS route and prioritised the order but would have had to pay more for it that way (same store)

Well, Bob, looks like EUR 5391 less TVA @ 19.6=EUR 4507, even at a credit card exchange rate of say 1.22 that makes a cost in GBP approx £3700.
Also shown as available...looks interesting!!
thanks, Bob!!

The only decision left now George is which language to learn.

mpb offered me a ogod price for my mkIV but they havent actually got a 1dx in but say they can get one easy enough.. I #would rather get one from someone who has one now.. so been a bit busy today.. gonna look see where I can get one now... up nporth would be good..

all jessops website says is delivery only not in stores.

Tony
Harrisons in sheffield had two on order for customers but they had a brand new 1dmk4 a while ago so its always worth a ring to see if the have a 1dx in stock as they are a canon pro shop and its up north

Just buy one guys. You can download the English manual from Canon.

Bob .. if they had a shop in Lille or near it would be a few hundred quid saved and a trip out... the websites a bit scarey for me :(

If canon confirm the warranty is valid then its a good shout.

Warranty has to be fine, Canon uk will honour US warranties so I can't see French ones being a problem!!

On lens not camera bodies.. When i was buying my 400mm lens i bought foreign and saved about 600 quid.. I checked wiht canon and they said yes for lens.. no for body..

however lots of people have said they have bodies bought abroad and canon havent bothered..

but i want canon to confirm so i asked my CPS rep

Bob! or anyone.. shooting L Jpegs on 10 quality how big are the files? I have 2 8gb cards and the rest are 4gb

The 1D IV is 16MP and the 1D X is 18MP so not a huge difference %wise

I've just looked at a shoot I did last week, folder has 384 files ranging from 3026 kb to 9525kb taken with the 1DIV

not a lot of difference then.. just me having little panick attacks.. every 1dx thread i read and everyones got fast 16-32-64 gig cards... will be OK with 8gb :)

My RAW's are coming out between 22 and 28Mb....sorry, no JPG's for comparison. Bear in mind Tony that it takes two CF cards and not an SDHC like the 1D4's.

I'm shooting on the same 4gb cards as my 1diii. In Jpeg I'm getting very similar file sizes.

I don't shoot raw often but can get them at 30mb lol.

Just to inspire confidence.....not.

Went to a small outdoor event tonight and after only 6 shots my 1Dx locked up. Battery out and in again but t'was dead as the proverbial dodo. Tried again when I got home and it's okay again now but the log shows "Error 80".

For the record, no custom functions changed, a fast lens (f/1.4) in the dark (Iso 25600) and using spot metering. It's not related to AF in any way as I had a Zeiss MF lens on and wasn't using AF confirm.

At least I don't feel left out now :)

I think you've mentioned this to me before as happening to you too, but my Zeiss 50mm MP periodically throws up a camera error on my 5DII and then is fine again - could this be a related issue?

I've seen that with my 50/2 on the 1Ds3....usually the first shot after putting the lens on. Never had an issue with the 50/1.4 though.
It seems that the error 80 is doiwn to a series of events that the processor doesn't like and it takes the rest of the day off.

Is there any possibility that the ZE's firmware isn't updated for the 1DX?

I've used the 35/2 and 50/2 without issues. This Error 80 seems to be a common problem on 1Dx's Phil, the web is crawling with reports of it and it's alleged that Canon will release a firmware update soon. It seems that battery cycling can sometimes get it going straight away and other times it doesn't immediately help....it didn't for me.

Buy cheap, buy twice :exit:

Well thats put me right off again :(

The one common factor that I see in all these err80 is spot metering...

That's pretty much it Tony. I've not made any significant changes to the delivered settings, had got an MF lens on it and changed to spot metering for the first time this evening....485 shots okay in evaluative and 6 shots before it died with spot metering. I took 200+ shots in the dark last Saturday without problem.

Agree with Kipax seems to be spot metering in a lot of cases.

Anyone had it when NOT spot metering?

Anyone had it when NOT spot metering?

Thats a msssivly important question for me.. because i never use spot metering... i eval or use manual and whatever my head comes up wiht.. been using mnaual enough years to pretty much guess the required settings then chimp a bit to fine tune ..

Would be quite happy to disable spot metering and never get the err80

I can't understand why a battery cycle didn't reset it though, but 30 drive home and it's a good as gold again.....bizzarre.

Bob

What about the 200 shots and spot metering Bob?
