Googling suggests/reveals a small number of reports back in 2013/14 of similar problems.........being put down to a hardware failure on part of the power circuitry. The inference being it was happening in a batch made at that time :(

All of those reports mentioned a need for Canon servicing being required!

A long shot but there is a small micro-switch inside the card dompartment. This is actuated by locking tab on the door but you can try with a cocktail stick or similar......the camera won't power up if this isn't active.

Just taken it in to lehmanns in Stoke,..Funny thing now is i noticed the door was not closing as clicky as it normaly did ,it closed as if if it was spongey if that makes sense.
Hopefully if it is that they should pick up on it at Lehmanns..

Yep I had one, worked fine one day, dead the next, never been out of the house in fact iirc correctly had only had it 3 days, waited few weeks for parts then cps sent me a totally new package instead.
