Plenty of white lenses at the football tonight. Wonder how many are attached to 1Dxs?

Easy to spot... any tog with a good old grin on his face has a 1Dx attached to his white lens. Those with huge grins, have MKII white glass to go with the 1DX

Ha ha good one Ivan. Twice we should have scored though.

No word from Ivan though. I think he's gone in to hiding until his battery is charged...

No phone call from the shop today... expecting one tomorrow though. Or else, the manager gets it :bat:

Why film unboxing a camera? Is this supposed to be a bit of one upmanship?

I suspect its a bit of "I'm so excited I want to share this with everyone" and everyone else goes "AHhHhHH I can't wait for mine, watching this will pass the time"

Never understood the filming of unboxing, if i get so excited about something i just take a visit to the bog and lock the door, a quick flick of the wrist and the excitements over.

That's great Gary.

Have you posted it on YouTube though?

Wonder if Gary has video of THAT :nono:

The problem is the guy just sounds like a complete n*b. Funnily enough I won't be subscribing to his channel...

Alright, alright. Calm down guys. I was just trying to help you all pass the time. I know not everyone has a second hobby like Gary with which to pass the time.

I did of course mean the guy in the video rather than Gary

Hahahaha there is of course no question Gary is very experienced

The end is nigh...:D
Once in my actual hands (if ever) I will post the unboxing video and the making of the unboxing video too :bonk:

Ivan - chap called Gel from Brighton on POTN says & I quote

--------------
About two weeks ago I tested a pre production 1Dx. The camera was a last stage model. i.e. almost ready.

I took a shot of a chap standing in a shadowed area in less than ideal light.

As a 1Ds3 owner and a 5D3 user I can quite confidently say that ISO 12800 is the same in noise as the 1Ds3 is at 1600 and respectively the 5D3 at 3200.

So 2 stops better than the 5D3....I got to keep the raw files and took my 5D3 with me for comparison.

ISO6400 is like the 1DS3's ISO800. So again, a three stop improvement over the 1Ds3. Other people did see the files and agreed with those observations.
-------------------------

A lot of people doubting him but if it's true then not sure how I'm going to get the money for one but I will.

How long ago did you get one to try and what were your observations?

I guess we'll all know soon enough but interested to hear anyway.

I had one for 10 day last April. Like Gel from Brighton, I was well impressed with the high ISO performance of the camera. ISO 12K is usable straight out of camera (with good exposure).

But, that's not what sold it to me. The incredible high percentage of in-focus images from 20-30 shots bursts tracking fast flying birds is what did it for me. I knew then that my decision to pre-order (something I have never done before) was the right one.

The question is not one of money for you but, one of availability. My guess? Canon is going to be busy sending cameras to fulfill reservations for some time to come.

Cheers - I can wait 6 months if it's that good.

Hahahahahaha... Only 6 months?... Hell, I've been waiting since last October when I first got my hands on one at the Islington CPS event.

Yes but the chaps are now pumping them out in Japan....(says he hopefully)...

Ivan phone call day +1 and counting. Fingers crossed it arrives today.

I will then expect you to charge the battery whilst you go shopping for BBQ food and a Swingball.

BBQ to start at 8:30 pm so we can get some good mid level ISO shots.

Swingball to start at 9:40pm so we can get some 12Fps high ISO shoots all in RAW and uploaded for anyone to download by say 10:30pm.

Just got off the phone.... On my way to collect :D

HMOF

WOW what a day!!!.... Got ready to jump on my bike and, just as I am pulling out, phone rings. Sir your 600mm II is also ready for collection. Leathers off and, I am now taking the car. That I was not expecting. The day I ordered it, I was told I'll be lucky to get the 600 by September!
happy days!!!

So will we see some BIF?

Nice new toys.

Ok so we want video's of getting the items, putting the items in the car, the drive home and of course the unboxing.

Plus the making of the movie ;) :D

At the tennis today, seen at least 20 1dx bodys, every canon shooter is using them. Lots of d4 and d800s too :)

Jelous...

Camera and lens are now home.
I can't post full exif images with the 1DX *** Canon won't let me register the camera through my CPS account. Apparently it does not exist yet.
I will eventually get around to post images (albeit with no EXIF) Why no EXIF you ask. Well, it reveals the serial number and I don't want unscrupulous people to register the camera before I do.
Below the actual items on my desk :D
