Hi all considering one of these like to keep full frame

Have found a 1Ds mrkII i am interested in boxed all accessories and according to seller low count ( can foxbat be used on these)

so what £££ are we looking at sub £1000 or above, private sale so no warranty


+ 10 fps AF

- small screen on back, need glasses to see it:gag:

getting more into airshows sport togging

so why should i change from a gripped 5D in mint condition:love:, to an equivalent 1Ds mrkII:thinking:


or am i better saving my pennies for a 1Ds mrk III :thumbs:

Correct me if I'm wrong but would have thought a 1D would be more suited for airshows and sports than a 1Ds due to it shooting at more Fps or have I got it the wrong way around.
 
The 1DS is not 10 FPS... It's more of an upgrade from the 5D (Full Frame professional, though the 5D might be better )

I use a 1D MKII ( notice the lack of as S) this is 8.5 fps, and is bullet proof. It would be an upgrade from a 30D/40D (at the time) and is a great camera, I've used it in rain, snow... everything and it's still going strong.

You have to ask yourself, are you looking for a highspeed sports camera (the 1D series) or a Full frame high megapixel professional camera(1Ds series).

Well, it's not and neither is the 1DsMk3 that is only 5fps.

The 1DMk3 is 10fps but is a 1.3x crop.

If you want a FF body with high speed drive then you want a Nikon D3 or D3s. but then you lose the MPs.

Not to mention how overbudget those bodies are.

+1 from me on the 1D with much higher fps rate being better suited to airshows, in which case look at sub £800 for a 1DII.

As regards the merits of a 1DSII against a 5D, I'd been advised to tread warily as the former might not give any improvement over the latter in terms of pure image quality. (A 1DSIII would be much better. )

i clicked on 1Ds II frame rate but the page was about 1DIII :gag:

bloody internet should have checked

with the lens i have 70 200 2.8 IS (with 1.4 extender) and sigma 50mm 1.4,and 24-70 will there be any vinetteing around the edges :thinking: if i go for a 1DIII say

The 1DsII is a brilliant camera, Mark. It's really a studio portrait camera as a first and best solution, but can do most things. The depth and quality of the files are wonderful for such an old chip. okay, it's not got great high ISO quality, but, tbh, I've used it at 1600 and printed up to 18x12 with zero problems. The two button menu system is a pain at first and the screen is useless, but once you're used to it the build quality and AF far outway these isues.
 
Oh, you'll be getting a good deal getting one sub 1K with low shutter count. I'd expect mine to fetch that with 80k on it.
