Yes
So here's my situation.

I have recently acquired a Canon 1Ds mark ii and have Lightroom 4 running on windows 7 (64bit). Lovely camera, but I would like to import and process the images.

Lightroom won't allow me to (no preview available messages), eos utility no longer seems to recognise the camera (only monitor folder available). Does anyone here know the best way to import the images into lightroom?

Yes I know....it's windows, not OSX, but I have to run Windows or Linux for the other software I need for work. I find it more than ridiculous that Canon apparently no longer supports the mark ii, a 'professional' camera on its own utility software.

Someone prove me an idiot please and point out a simple way to get my RAW files into Lightroom

Card readers can be picked up for peanuts off the bay, thats going be the easiest solution

Yes - I experienced the same thing - there are no windows 7 drivers for the 1DsII - memory card only I'm afraid.

I use the 1Ds MK II also and yes a card reader.
I also have an old laptop with Win XP and use this to change the custom functions that are available only through a computer ie change the number of shots for AEB from 3 to 5 or 7
Wish they had made the 1 DS to be used with a USB rather than a firewire.

It can be used with USB - mine came with a cable to plug into a little plug on the side.

It's quite slow - I think USB 1.1 - but it does work.

.

I found I couldn't adjust the functions over USB when I attached it to another computer with XP. Also a FireWire to USB converter didn't work.

Hi, Nope has to be a firewire computer connection went down the same road but hey a really great camera even without liveview;)

Definitely a slow USB connection and I have no firewire ports on my old Dell laptop. Looks like the quickest will definitely be a card reader. Looks like even the branded ones (like Fuji, Lexmark) aren't that pricey either. I guess the sacrifice for having a nice older camera is a several step import process to Lightroom.:)
