Canon 1D X Mk II Owners Thread

I have checked that and it is disabled.
Read through the notes (second paragraph) on page 199 of your user manual....it's easier than repeating it here.

Bob

It is recommended that CFast card users regularly full format and refresh (sanitize) their card. Sanitizing the card returns the CFast card to a 'fresh' state by removing previous recording traces, which restores maximum video recording performance.

Note: Please ensure that sanitize is 100% complete prior to removing the card. If there are power interruptions or if the card is removed prior to completion, the card may not work properly in the camera. If this happens, users are directed to complete the interrupted sanitize and then sanitize once more so that a full sanitize is finished without interruption.

You need to format the card in the camera after running it through the refresh programme.
So, is this to be found in a menu? I have reformatted several times but not heard of this term before. Thanks.

No chipper, it's an app/program you download from Sandisk, Mac or PC, run the app/program and format the card in the reader, then insert into camera and format again as the camera will fail to reconise the card after the low level/sanitize/full format or whatever you wish to call it.

Only applies to Sandisc, and they provide a programme for this....Lexar and I presume transcend don't require it.

edit...only just seen the 2 posts above....

Anybody else had a problem with Image Capture on Mac Sierra not recognising the cfast card?

I can see it, and its contents etc, in Finder but it doesn't appear in Image Capture once I fire that up.

I see Panamoz has the 1DX mark 2 in £4,250 good price with canon warrenty

Okay guys I have one for you... How come when I press the playback button to review images, The af point ISN'T showing.? I have selected af point display to enable..

That caught me too.

First step is to enable it in the menu (as you've done). You need to call up an image and then using the 'Q' button and scroll down to the last but one icon on the righthand side of the image and then select 'enable' from the options that appear at the bottom. It doesn't appear to append the details retrospectively so it will only work on any subsequent shots.

HTH

I didnt even know that menu was there.. i was trying to get the wheel to view locked files only and couldnt suss it..But its in that menu.... didnt even know it existed haha

Cheers Bob :)

Just discovered something interesting.. I put my macro lens on and it works perfectly, back to my 600+2x and nothing..
It shows single point on mine. I'll put the 600+2x on and give it a try this morning and report back.

It doesn't work with either Extender (1.4x or 2x) fitted. I can't imagine why it would be inhibited so perhaps an oversight in the firmaware.

Right then, Canon have been very helpful via twitter..

Bob, when doing the tests can you look if you have Distortion Correction turned on.? I've turned mine off and it works perfectly with both extenders..

Thanks for your help though Bob.

Distortion correction is turned off on mine!
The User Guide states that the AF points won't be displayed if it's on.

Will be home on Thursday and will have a look at mine then, also at photo show in Birmingham tomorrow and if I get a chance will try to get an answer there.

My distortion correction is off, I know that.

George.

I'll try the other body and a different lens.......my 600/4 IS is the MkI BTW.

It must be a faulty lens Bob so you NEED to upgrade to the Mkii and donate the Mki to me!! :):exit:
If only I could afford either of them.:(:(

Question what would you like on your 1D bodies ?
For me I would love to have the option where the current time could be viewed in the viewfinder, if im out in a morning for a few hours doing some wildlife shots either hid in my makeshift hide or laid under my scrim net I would love to see the current time by just looking through the view finder instead of fumbling about trying to look at my watch, Surely this would be an easy option for canon to introduce as I only have a few hours each morning before its time for work and I like to keep an eye on the time
Your thoughts please guys and anything else that you would like to see on this body
Ps still cant understand why we don't have eye recognition on the focus point as I did back in the old film days with the canon 30 date

It should find it automatically as long as the CFast card reader with a card in it is connected, Nick.

Nope been in touch with Sandisk they cant understand why not ? Going to try my pc rather than mac just incase its that.

Try formatting it in camera?

Update loaded on pc and works as it should but mac still a no go any ideas?

Bin the programme, delete trash, restart and install it again?.....never been a problem with me and we're totally Mac.

George, does Image Capture on your Mac recognise the cfast card?

On my Mac I can see the card in Finder and copy the files off but Image Capture won't even show it.
