:help: anyone know if getty is accepting the 1D mkIII as one of the acceptable cameras for submissions? its not on their current list but the 1D mkII is... I have emailed them tonight but as I'm a little impatient :p I thought I'd ask here too just incase y'all know? many thanks!! Its fairly new so getty may have not updated their list yet, I'm hoping they will be accepting it as I want a pro body but the speed of the mkIII and the crop factor (thus added effective focal length) really appeals to me but if I can't sell the images it'll be a wasted investment really. Thanks!!

I'd make sure you do enough research on the present focus issue with the MKIII if I were you. I am considering changing the bodies that I shoot with (1D & 10D) & have been looking at the prices for the MKIIn's which have began to drop with the MKIII's release. I also do Pet photography btw & don't think I'll find much use for 10fps in any case (even my spaniels not that fast - well, not unless there's food involved )
I don't think I'd go for a MKIII as the features of the MKII's would be enough - tethered shooting instead of a live preview may also be an option if that was a deciding factor.

well the speed was more for the wildlife side of things ;) but yeh I shall look at the mkII also. Not heard of a focusing issue... the reviews Ive read have really "bigged up" the autofocus, would love to know more/have a link etc, thanks.

I shoot fast paced wildlife & sports a great deal & very rarely even use the 1D's full 8fps - I think that the issue with the MKIII's autofocus is the focusing not being able to keep up with such a rapid rate of fps & that makes sequential shots a bit hit & miss from what I've seen - I'll see if I can find the link to where I read about it & would also be interested to hear about anything you can find out on the subject both good & bad

If you do a google search for "1D MKIII focus issue" then it'll bring up loads of links to people that have had these issues.

thanks!! well I'm always up for saving some pennies so will seriously consider the mkIIn insted :D and will have a google in the morning as I should really get some beauty sleep soon :bonk:

sometimes I do wonder if I live in a cave... oh thats annoying that the update doesn't seem to have fixed it :shake: will keep an eye on things.

Andy Rouse (the wildlife tog) is currently testing the Mk111 and thinks it's awesome. He's adamant there's nowt wrong with the AF system maintaining it's all in the setup which it seems is very user adjustable and does need a bit of getting to grips with.

With regard to image libraries- he intends to submit some MK111 images to see how they're received, but the downside is it produces a 28mb image as opposed to those from the 1DSMK2 which are closer to the 50mb standard straight out of the tin. He likes it so much he would like to use it more - says the AF system is in a whole new league.

I have the 1DMK2n btw and wouldn't consider getting the MK 3. As a first time buyer though I think I would. Having said that, you can get the MK2n for daft money now and it's an awesome camera.

Andy Rouse writes his reviews for warehouseexpress.com so are they totally impartial or slightly biased to sell the product? No one out my way has any in stock in store so I can't go out and test one/have a play. I'll keep my eye out for a mkIIn and see what happens.

just got email from Getty there is no current plans to accept the 1d mkIII yet.
