Hi everyone I'm quite desperate for some help. Today I brought a Second hand 1D MkII I was in such a rush I didn't take the time to check it over at the store which was a Mistake but not the worst as the Camera is near mint condition and works perfectly fine, however there is one thing that I need advice with; when I look through the View finder there is no AF point boxes like my 5D MkII. When the Camera is turned on I can see red projected boxes but no black ones. Should I have black boxes in the view finder and if I should does anybody know where I can purchase the plates from? Thank you in advance.

My 1d3 just has a square in the centre and a sausage shape around it. It doesn't have the squares like the 5d2 has. Don't worry just get using it.

Like Chris says the 1 series doesn't have squares. Assuming its the stock screen you'll see the spot metering circle in the middle and an ellipse which shows the boundary of where the focus points are.
