Canon 17-40 Exif data

My 17-40 is reporting every shot at 40mm in the exif data. I am not particularly fussed about this at all, however.... Are there any other consequences aside from not having the data on the raw file? Is AF affected in the camera at all?

I don't believe that AF will be affected but your PP software might apply distortion profiles (barrelling/pincushion) based on the reported focal length

If you have more than one body, does it behave the same on both? Do other zooms report variable focal lengths as expected on these bodies? Have you tried alternative Exif viewers, including this online viewer?: http://exif.regex.info/exif.cgi
