Tried searching for an answer but all I can find is a video showing the same problem.. so.. anyone else had this and know the fix.. also does it effect taking pics?

I ahve checked every screw i can find... i checked under the rubber and none there like on other canon lens..

Could it be UV radiation from sitting in the sun too much in its life. It does odd stuff to plastics.

That would be a no... But you did cheer me up haha

I'll have a dig around inside mine over the weekend, Tony, and see how it falls together.

Does it effect focus do you think ? Only use mine now and then in emegency (darkness)
I wondered the same about the focus, Tony. Try manual focusing on a distant object and then moveing the barrel from on end of its movement t the other and see if the focus changes.

I tried dismantling mine but had taken off enough bits and still not arrived at the fixing point which I believe is behind the lens mount (that I removed) and then further behind the circuit board (where I stopped). I have the exploded diagram for the 200/2.8 II, a very similar design, and this implies that the screws are along the lens axis and clamp by pulling rather than locking through holes.
