Hey guys,
I have canon 1100d , it's kinda nice but I think I need something better, any ideas in the canon range, still kinda new to this so keep it simple please.

Hi

A few extra details may help with recommendations...

What is your budget ?

What do you want the new body to do that yours can't - higher Frames Per Second (FPS), tilt screen etc ?

What are you finding limiting (if anything) with your body at the moment ?

When I take pics 70-300 lens I'm not too far away from subject birds, I think I took nice pic but when zoom in on mac don't seem sharp enough, is that he camera or lens.?

That could be over high expectations, user error or the camera/lens quality.

You probably need to post a sample image along with the crop you have taken so people can see how extreme (or not) the crop is

I believe that Canon do things in reverse, so, your looking for a lower number, I think something like a Canon 600D or lower number, not too sure.
I myself have the 1100D and I reckon it will last me a few years, if my photography becomes anything more than just a hobby.

550D, 50D, 600D, 60D the choice is yours really. Its best to go to a shop and have a good feel and play with then then see what's best for you.

Personally, I would stick with the camera for as long as you can, you'll know when it's time to upgrade, when the camera is causing limitations in your photography.
For example, if you wanted to do full HD video, or you wanted a full frame camera instead of the 1.6 cropping.
The 1100D is classed as an entry level camera but in my opinion can be more than sufficient for taking some brilliant photos.

Depends how you've set up the camera, what settings are you using, how many autofocus points are you using, shutter priority, aperture priority, fully auto, there are many factors to getting better results.

example, using all autofocus points, the camera will focus on the nearest subject, i.e the branch in front of the bird, use a single focus points rather, that should improve things. What shooting mode are you using, ISO setting etc?

Ok guys thanks or your input,NI guess I'll have to take my time in wanting the best ill try post some of my work on here when I find out how lol , again ......cheers,

i had an 1100d and didn't like it couldn't explain why I've just flogged it and bought a sony slta33 so far it seems much better with a lot more functions and some good features that help us beginners :)

For what it's worth I've recently stepped up from a 1000D to a 60D. It was obviously a little more expensive than the 600D I was aso considering, but the 60D feels like a proper upgrade whereas the 600D felt like a smaller incremental improvement in comparison.

I'm using a 1000D with 70-300 lens and have the same problem. I found that some of it was down to user error, ie me not holding the camera perfectly still. Have you taken any using a tripod and still found they weren't as sharp as you expected?
For me, my upgrade choice will be the 60D, but I'm still trying to get my technique right before upgrading despite a massive case of 'shiny toy syndrome' :)

Post up a pic with data with it, I dont think the problem is the camera body it will be the lens IMO or your technique.
