Yes
I've seen this on the Canon website and noticed a price increase up to £1,940.00.

Why the big increase as I am aware these lens are about £1,200? I'm wondering if its something to do with the fact that they are now compatible with the teleconverters.

They have always been compatible with the converters its just a question of which camera you use to weather they auto focus. The most likely reason for the price increase is the vat rise and exchange rate review.

The Canon site quotes the MRP, which is almost always much higher than the current street price except on release.

It's been £1,940 on there for yonks IIRC.

Edit: it may well have been bumped slightly due to the VAT increase, as mentioned above.

Yep, that's RRP.

I don't think it's been sold at that price since is was released years ago.
Can get it for nearly half that.

you mean compatible with the new canon tc's?
because it certainly hasn't become compatible overnight for my mk2 tc :D lol

Nope I have a 100-400 and a 1.4xmk2 and 2xmk1 converters. Used them on the 100-400 lens and the only thing I lose is auto focus with the 2x. But that on a canon 1D range camera.

oh, jeez, I need to dig out my pedant card again. it was a safe assumption that the reference to compatability was the 'well documented' AF functionality, not the fitment ;)

As you were folks.

Theres my mistake then; as to me compatability was down to fitment. As otherwise you just have restricted functionality, but they work.

Ahh, that cleared a lot of things up, cheers guys. I will be buying one in a months time once I get the cash for it.

Can someone explain the "tape trick" or post a link.? Ta.
