Canon 1.8 50mm Problem

Hey guys. Small problem:

Bought a brand new canon 50mm 1.8 about 3 months ago and it worked very well up until 2 weeks ago.
The problem is there seems to be a little bit of blue plastic lodged in the inner glass and a few specks of dust. The plastic is about 2mm x 1mm.I understand that the dust should not effect the image however i seem to have problems getting sharp images.

Has anyone encountered this problem? What should i do?
