Cannot Open CR2 File

Hi all, can anyone offer a suggested remedy please?

I have some old CR2 files, probably taken with my Canon 5D2 or my M, I can't seem to open them with Affinity nor with Canon Digital Photo Pro 4?

Any suggestions would be welcome.

That's very strange.
a 6 year old CR2 taken with 7D MkI
Right clicked and open with affinity ..

I suppose it is possible the files are corrupted?

I've been able to open the next consecutive file number. On my Mac it shows the same date in 'modified' + 'created'.

They were originally on a Windows machine, transferred with a pen drive.

Current DPP and Affinity should both work with 5D2 files. If they work with other files, then that suggests the problem is with the files. Are the Windows machine and pen drive still accessible? You might want to upload an example file somewhere for others to test.

I back up all my raw images after I've titled and keyworded them and before I carry out any developing/editing on them.

Do you not have any backups?
 
Yes I do. I shall check those tonight.
