HI guys, 1st time posting, and looking for help.
I've been given a Sony A350 and am just learning how to use it.
My problem is I cant download the pics to my pc.
keep getting a message saying insert disc, I'm no I.T. expert so just need to know what I'm doing wrong
running windows 10 if that helps

Many thanks in advance

Are you trying to download the pix using a USB connection , have you got the camera plugged into the pc ?
If this is what you are doing I suspect win 10 does not have the drivers for the camera and that's what its asking for.
When its plugged in to the PC it should see the camera as a mass storage device in windows explorer so you can do it that way, find the pix , they will be in a folder probably called DCIM alternatively if you have a card reader take the memory card out and do it that way

Hi and welcome to TP

Might be of help if you explain exactly what you have done that gave you the message.

If what you have done is just connected the camera to the PC expecting to be able to transfer the files that is not the way such a connection normally works.

Have you read the manual as to how to connect the camera to a PC? If you have a memory card reader that does simplify the process i.e. you remove the card from the camera and use the card reader connected to be PC.

Hope that helps for now but please expand on what and how you are trying to download the files to the computer?

Edit ~ took too long to complete my message and troutfisher has outlined as well, as above......

Somewhere in the menus there will be a USB setting which probably needs to be set to Mass Storage or MTP. There may also be a USB LUN setting which should be set to Multi.
However, it's a much better idea to remove the card from the camera then use a card reader and Windows Exploder to transfer the files.

hi folks,
sorry for the delay and thanks for the replies not been near my laptop!
ok, so yes I am trying to load straight from camera,
I have got the camera settings on mass storage
no, I don't have the software that came with the camera if there was originally
I don't have a card reader but not sure that would make a difference,
I have however taken the camera back to my mum in law who gave it to me and she plugged it into her mac and got the pics straight away!
pretty sure I need some sort of driver installed in order to download but am really confused
many thanks again

When you plug the camera into your laptop and turn it on does it show up as a mass storage device or another drive in windows explorer, in other words is the pc "seeing" the camera ?

No, you don't need any drivers. Given the correct USB setting the camera should be detected by the PC as an external drive.
I don't understand why you think a card reader won't make any difference - please explain.

Get a card reader is my advice- simple enough to use :)
