Beginner Cannon 350D will a Canon EF 35-80mm f/4-5.6 III fit?

I'm a new Nikon user however I have a Cannon 350D looking to buy Canon EF 35-80mm f/4-5.6 III so my son can use it,as he using Cannons in school

the lens I've seen is within price range ( not spending too much on him )

Yes, just remember it will act like a 56-128 on the crop body.

I personally wouldn't find an equivalent focal length of 56-128mm very appealing.

Maybe you could spring for a 18-50mm f3.5-5.6, they seem to go for about £60 or even a 20-35mm or 28-80mm?

Alan it was only £19 so not a great lost, I hoping to talk him going the Nikon way (so I can save money in the long run if we use the same system)
the 350D was my late brothers, the body ok, but his lens aren't in good order
