Can someone tell me -----

The total length in mm of the lens when opened up to 400mm?

Does it have a hood and if so what the length in mm of the hood?

Im making a semi fitting type rain cover for a friend ( he doesnt know ) from Goretex material i have lying around.I have the camera sizes but need the above.Cheers.

This is my first posting so I hope I can help you, I use the same lens and have a plastic raincover for it and my 40D I got them from Morris Photo follow the link and see for yourself, plus their reasonably cheap.
