I dont know how many of you saw the Easyjet Holidays offer this week, but i was lucky enough to do quite well out of it. Booked myself and the missus 4 days in Cannes for £70 each inc flights and 4* hotel.

Anyway, i was pretty chuffed about that, but i'm obviously going to bring my camera.
Anyone know any good spots for a photo or two? Any good tips? I'll prob drive up to Monaco too and check that out.

Its going to be early august so forget all this crappy weather, i'm off to cook myself stupid :)

Verdon Gorge - take the N85 Route Napoleon (one of the best driving roads on the planet) up from Cannes past Grasse (worth a stop) to Castellane. You can actually walk down in the gorge itself right next to the river, it eventually brings you out into Lac de Saint Croix

Monaco's worth a visit, make sure you climb up the hill to the actual principality though.

St Raphael is lovely in the evenings.

St Tropez old town and harbour is worth the trip but get down their early to avoid heavy traffic. Worth paying a few euros for a boat trip.

Avoid Nice, some of it is ok (Promenade des Anglais) but the rest of it is a sh*thole.

Cross the border into Italy, it's a couple of hours drive

http://www.roquebrune.com/index.php is just north of Frejus, the village is very picturesque - you can actually climb the rock itself in a couple of hours

Good location suggestions from EvilOwl, especially the Gorges and Monaco.

At this time of year (inc August), would highly recommend getting the train in to / from Monaco, the roads tend to be really busy and only costs 5 Euros a couple of years ago each way from Nice Aiport, not sure how much from Cannes but train runs along the coast. If you are feeling decadent having saved so much on the break, you can get a one way helicopter ride from Nice airport to Monaco for around £70pp. I know that sounds a lot after your Easyjet flight and hotel, but the trip is really fantastic all the way along the rugged coast and a nice easy train journey back. Lots of photo opportunities.

Agree about avoiding most of Nice, Monaco is much better and safer and not as expensive as you might think unless you are bingeing out!

got back yesterday
went to monaco on saturday - highly recommended
antibes sunday morning - not bad
cannes sunday afternoon and evening - not bad
verdon gorge yesterday - excellent, and you were right about the roads! It cost me a hire cars hub cap, though from going a little too fast on the hair pins!

my photos were proper holiday shots, so nothing special but i might put a few on the forum later.

thanks for the advice guys - glad i asked
