A local photo-club invited me for the third time to mentor their group in
an open air shooting they have predetermined. Sony, Pentax, Olympus,
Canon Nikon etc were all represented in this club of 34 members (you
know, this is the first time all are present!).

Some friends or parents were there to share a good time with this club.
As the session went on, the father of a young women was irritated hearing
me saying a couple of times: "…and the first step in understanding your
camera is the RFM strategy!"

—"Do you mean you cannot answer the question?"
"No, I cannot. I don't know all the different vocabularies, all the settings,
nor all the menus banks of all the brands and camera models…"

— "Can you only speak Nikon? …really?"
I did not have the time to answer the question, I see the father grabbing
his daughter and leave the location. Swiftly, the club's responsibles brought
everyone to continue with the session.

If anyone can help me got hold of what was in the mind of that gentleman…

I'd rather shove wasps up my arse than speak at a camera club for this very reason.

What was in his mind? He thinks photography is about cameras.

He's an idiot.

I feel sorry for you. It people who give their time to help others so well done for giving your time. I know at our club people are told to bring their manuals so if people are not sure they can look it up. No one can know it all but knowing were to look is the next best thing

The mans a fool, don't waste energy worrying over it. Sadly it is his daughter that loses out.

So many hobbyists are just arrogant. They ignore advice they don't want to hear, and there's far too many people who just say "nice" things about their crappy images to falsely boost their confidence.

Ignore people like this. Let them take their sunset shots and be happy.

There are none, so blind, as those who do not wish to see.
