Basically, I have written a simple guide to photography and a canon eos 1000d for my girlfriend, but I think it could be a cool and useful document for beginners to use on here, however I don't want to publish the .docx file on the internet for all to download and alter and steal (not that I'm that bothered, it's just the principal).

I want a simple, free and effective tool to convert .docx to .PDF effectively, including all things such as contents, diagrams, shapes, colours, etc.

Anyone?

And yes I have googled it but to no avail.
 
I'm confused, what is to stop anyone downloading the pdf doc and altering/stealing your work?

With the added bonus that this is also commercially free, so if you are/go down that route, you're safe to. You can set it so that people can view and print, but not copy/amend. We do this where I work for user licences we sell for our software. Stopped some of our customers trying to break the system pretty quick!
 
Harder yes, but if the pdf has no security they can just copy and paste the words into a new word document.

I don't mind if people distribute it all over the world!
I just don't want them:
A) selling it when newbies can get it for free - mugging them off
B) taking my name or contact details off of it and mugging me off!
 
Or you can download open office which has a pdf export facility, very easy to use. Open office can also open and save in various formats, however I'm not sure if it currently supports .docx.

The latest version does!

I had to stop using it when work upgraded to 2007 but I am now able to use it again :D
 
if you got the whole creative sweet with photoshop you have acrobat pro which makes them for you as a printer same as the plugins
