Can you clear something up for me?

Hi,
I recently got some interfit ex150s and am looking roind for some guides to get me started, the problem is I don't really know how you describe these lights.
Do they work pretty much like normal flashes in which case I can look for strobist stuff or is it something else?

They're studio lights, John... Nothing like TTL or on-camera flash units...

There are some tutorials that Garry Edwards has done, not only on the Lencarta website, but also on his own page... He runs training courses as well - he's in Bradford, I believe...

Am I right in thinking that the basics are the same? So I could follow tutorials on portraits designed for multiflash or am I off the mark there?

So now i see it doesn't seem as popular a route is it not the best? The reason I ask is that I got them from Jessops so should be pretty easy to return if I made the wrong choice.

John, to a large degree studio lights are all the same.

There's loads and loads of tutorials on the net for getting into lighting, just type studio flash tutorial into google and loads turn up

If you want a more in depth approach, have a word with Garry Edwards on here. His studio is pretty local to you

Thank you, part of the problem was that I didn't know what to search for, now I do I'm finding loads, such as this site with all sorts on it about general photography.

Gary has given me a few tips already about a problem I was having triggering them, but now I've some radio triggers on route so that should be a thing of the past, but I've not actually approached him yet and funnily thats a scary thing and would want to know alot more before I actually did so as to not waste his time (too much )

I really wouldn't worry. Garry teaches at all levels, including complete novices with very little or no experience. He takes everyone from a basic start point, to a good level of competence in a day, and he makes no assumptions regarding student's knowledge.
