Have a little bit of respect for the northern contingent in the Motorsport Critique forum. The past few weeks have been nothing but great shots from the DTM, Donington Historic, Britcar, WEC, CSCC....All from the south.
I'm getting close to suicidal waiting for some good racing up North, and I can't make it to WSBK at Donny this weekend either......

Going MAD

That is all...

Touring Cars in June!

Silverstone and Donington are in the South?! I'm a good 60 miles or so north of the south coast but you're still closer to Donington than I am ;)

Personally I'm pretty jealous of the range of tracks up north, plus the majority of rallying in winter.

Silverstone is FIRMLY in the south. Donington not really southern - definitely achievable from here, but I missed the Historic due to work, and I can't make it down this weekend either. I'm just mad for missing so many good events. Having Croft on my doorstep isn't all its cracked up to be either. I took a cycle round there yesterday.....it just don't inspire me, and aside from the Touring Cars, there's nothing with the WOW factor.
I'm just being grumpy waiting for rallies!!

They're north of me, but I still wouldn't say they're in the north? Especially since it's right next to East MIDLANDS airport. :D

Saw this sign at Donington last year at the Britcar night race. Hate to think what Croft must be like!

By good racing, do you mean big race series? Reason I ask is that I doubt you'll see cleaner and closer racing anywhere in the UK than the NSSCC B, C & D and MX5 series gave at Croft a couple of weekends ago.

What about the Nostalgia weekend at Croft? Usually provides some of the biggest grids and best racing of the year! Definitely has the WOW factor for me! The circuit also has the special saloons in September :).

One of the biggest issues with Croft, is that it can suffer with small grids with some series, as they seem reluctant to travel north of Cadwell / Oulton / Donny :(

Simon.

I can't see how some people think Donington is "north", when Knockhill is just over a 2 hour drive south for me, and Croft some 5 hours :D

Golspie I would consider north (http://www.caithnesscarclub.co.uk/)

Nobody said Donington was in the north, but the op said it was in the south. Generally I think it's considered to be in the Midlands, anyway!

They giveaway is the rather noisy neighbour.... East MIDLANDS airport :)

To the OP, you just have to drive a lot in this hobby! I'm from West Yorkshire and last year I drove some 5250 miles to attend motor sports events (not counting a rail/coach trip to Spa for the Belgian GP).

Don't forget it is the Jim Clark Rally this weekend at Duns. The only closed road rally on the UK mainland. Plenty of photo opportunities there.

Haha, Well aware of this! Probably done about 3000 miles already this year, and another 300 miles coming up this weekend. It's part of the fun, but a massive drain on finances filling up the tank so much.

@Munch - Got it.....Heading up Scotland way for the Jim Clark tomorrow morning. Can't wait!
