Hello TP'ers

Was at Marwell Zoo (again!) today and got some nice shots of the AMur Tiger yawning. Unfortunately the shots' highlights were all blown - like the first picture below. I have tried some recovery, but am unhappy with the results. Is there a simplified way of recovering blown highlights? I use PSE 7.

Out of camera..only reduced for the forum

Some pp done - when I try recover often the picture looks quite false (sorry, couldn't think of any better word).

thanks
Graeme

Had a quick play with the curves but couldn't pull back the blown paws (i'm quite new to PP so i'm sure someone will be able to sort it for you)

Thanks people. Here are my further attempts:

1. Using dodging and burning

looks a bit too much contrast.

2. Using layers

Prefer this one the most.

They're both a big improvement on your original, so it looks as if you've answered your own question :)

Yep you can save it ;)

cheers toonamp! Looks like I need more belief in myself!

NO - learn the camera - why did this happen - do you know?

If I remember I didn't readjust my settings are shooting inside a darker area. Once I had 'chimped' and noticed these pictures I readjusted. These were the only pics that were like this. Chaz is also right though in that I need to practise with my pp. Ultimately you are right as I shouldn't have blown these in the beginning..lesson learnt!
