...why I am here? Mainly because I can't bloody remember how the hell to use this and I just had a moment of madness and stuck a roll of OOD film in I found in a drawer. :banghead:

OK, I know it's a range finder, [retina IIc] but I seem to recall I have to twiddle something on the front and... aarrgghh....

You're very welcome.

If I ever come into money I'm gonna send that guy a few hundred. All my old camera manuals have come from him.

Oh my, what chance are we gunna av in June at the Mega Meet??.....We best have a display board of Butkus instructions for all the film kit we're taking otherwise all we're gunna be asked by bewildered digiyites is " which bit do i look through" ....:D:D:D:D

I know that LCE had forgotten that film SLRs existed when they were advertising a £150 trade in against ANY SLR. Only about 15x the real value of an old F65 with sticky rubbers... After a little... friendly discussion with head office, they honoured the deal (to their credit). Come to think of it, I even still have the box, manual etc. in the loft!

I meant the light value reading thingy, not the bloody focusing ring, before you injure yourself choking with laughter :p

They can't all be as daft as this thing, I remember setting up the C330 I borrowed without any trouble at all, it was sort of self explanatory. It was just the light reading settings that threw me, for the life of me couldn't remember what I did with the scale last time I used it but a quick read reminded me. Still doing the maths though and have to fiddle it a little because the table in the book doesn't take into account film higher than 100, but I have stuck 400 in it :D

Hardly a surprise I forgot though, the last time I used it was 2009!! Obviously I knew what to do with it then, I posted a couple of the test shots on flickr. Hadn't realised it had been that long.

That's why you digiyites shoot in machine gun mode and hope for the best! :exit::D

:bat: I could go off you you know!! Some of us shoot differently, hell, some of us can even set them up manually without having to resort to holding a light meter OR the inbuilt metering, just bloody neanderthal :p

 Have to admit, just took it out for a test run whilst doing the dog walk as the sun had come out and it does drive me mad, trying to persuade it to use the shutter speed and aperture I want and hurting my fingers adjusting the light value twiddly thing. Could be why I never used it again  The retina is a far easier beast to use even if I have to judge focusing distance and the light meter doesn't work. Anyway, will be interesting to see if I managed to get any well exposed and in focus pictures of two jack russells scrabbling about in a pile of logs for any rodents ;)

Setting the hyperfocal distance on those RFs' , is something of a finger-shredder!
