Can someone help how to re-select from layer mask in Photoshop please?

I've been following this video, and am a bit of a novice in photoshop and I can't find how to do part of the process from this video. At 3.30 after he's created the layer mask he reselects the bird to get the marching ants but I can't figure out how to do this, can someone help please? For some reason I got it into my head that I could press CMD + Opt + D (Mac) but that doesn't work.

Thanks very much it worked, although it's actually CMD + click on Mac
