Yes
Our neighbour had a baby boy this week and want me to take some pictures today, i only have my D3100, 18-55mm VR and 55-200mm non VR and on camera flash.
Now i realise as they do that these will not be studio quality pictures but they want decent record pictures of him so young.
Can anyone give me ideas of mother and baby and baby pictures please, even if its just a link to some, i am only home at weekends so they will be taken in a few hrs time
I realise this is very short notice but hope someone will have some guidance for me, the pictures will be shot in Jpeg and RAW so there will be scope for PP ideas,
This is NOT a job involving money, its a favour for very good neighbours who keep an eye on my family whilst i work away all week,
Many thanks in advance
Cliff

Just google mother and/or newborn photography poses and you should get some inspiration.

This list is helpful for ideas.

I would also try to use natural light where possible and enlist the help of someone else to hold a large white/light coloured piece of card etc to reflect the light where needed. Better to use natural light and increase your ISO (not ridiculously high though) to keep your shutter speeds usable than to use the built in flash which can be very unflattering, maybe even take along or borrow some plain coloured sheet material (Black/White is a good start) to drape over cluttered backgrounds and form a little mini studio effect. In the past I have used rolled up or scrunched into shape towels with a plain coloured material draped over it to help get the baby propped into the position I am after.

And set your camera to shoot in RAW+jpeg to give yourself a much better chance of getting the look you are after in post processing.

Oh and steer clear of the wide end of the 18-55 if room dictates. Use your telephoto for some really zoomed in close shots as well (mix it up a little) for instance the close up of dads masculine hand with babys tiny finger curled around one of his is always loved by new parents.

All will be fine just dont feel rushed or pressured, take your time and take a break and a cuppa if needed to let baby and mum feel at ease and give you a chance to review what you have taken so far and maybe adjust or improve the next set.
