....fedex can get a lens from HK to Nth London in half the time it takes Royal Snail to get a birthday card 20 miles across the city?

:woot::woot:my new sigma, ordered Sunday afternoon, just arrived and its a beauty - 50 to 150 mm's of F2.8dom - test shots will follow :D

you ordered one!!!:woot: hope it everything you expect!

Enjoy! :)

It's bizarre isn't it

Congratulations on the new lens though :D Hope you enjoy

Easy...

Fedex have a reputation to keep - and one they care about keeping

Royal Mail have a reputation they'd like to escape from - and one they can't be arsed TO escape from

I trust you'll raise your new glass often in celebration

DD

Fedex are naff round my way (late or sometimes don't bother to deliver as their rounds finish earlier than they'd arrive at my door, coupled with rude workers and stupid signature machines) while Royal Mail are by far my best delivery service always delivering on time, with nice polite workers who have gotten to know me. Its a post code lottery it would seem.

Grats on th new glass though, I'd love one of those and am really interested to know how it performs so am looking forward to your findings - have fun :D

ok, some quickly taken test shots whilst camera and tripod were out anyway. These have NO sharpening, only shrunk for web.

this next one is the only one I could find an issue with, there is some softness - however, I went back down to check camera position and realised that it was probably only 80-85cm from focal plane, not the minimum 100cm, so taking that into account, this is actually quite good I think. Will do another shot later to make sure.

Overall, initial reaction is very positive, looking forward to some real time testing now....just as soon as the bloody weather plays ball :bonk:

Congrats LadyLens. Nice lens! I know what you mean about carriage. My lens was paid for 8.00pm Thursday night. Arrived Tuesday morning from New York. That was a weekend and bank holiday in between.
I hope you enjoy the new toy. I also need better weather so I can go out and play with my toy.

Looks great and nice test too - seems like it's got a great bokeh, and plenty of sharpness. Now I want one. Thx :)

can we see pictures of the actual lens?

Congrats Yvonne looks like a nice copy too
Fed-ex I agree I bought something from "Asia" recently it was a bride :D
non photo related it arrived in less than 3 full days, I was impressed as well

Hey. That's quality service - < 3 days from HK to UK. Are you at liberty to let us know who supplied the lens - and also if u were lucky enough to dodge any TAX? Been thinking about raiding the piggy bank - some of the lens prices from HK are so attractive..... less so with TAX though :(

For lenses I use onestop-digital.com - they refund tax if you do get stung, but thats the second lens I have bought from them with no problems. There can be issues with International Warranties, sometime meaning a return to HK if there is a problem, but thats the risk you take of getting the better price - swings and roundabouts. I am still realing at the 24 hr delivery - got an email yesterday lunchtime saying it had been despatched, so expected it thursday/friday
