Running IMAC and have used IPHOTO for many years
Had a lot of old family photos that I scanned in - now have lots of duplicates and have tried various App's to solve but with little success.

I need to sort photo's into image sizes as I know I could then delete lots of small sized images

Could I do this by moving all photos to Picasa - sort on size, delete then move back to iPhoto?

Want to keep in iPhoto as Airplay via Apple TV is great for viewing

Welcome your thoughts & advice
Thanks

You could try simply opening you iPhoto library in FINDER then get it to VIEW>ARRANGE>BY SIZE. This would list all the files by size. You could then delete the smaller ones that way. A little experiment may be needed to find what is the largest size you want to keep.

I'm not absolutely sure but I think removing files from the iPhoto database in Finder will corrupt the database.
You do not say which version of iPhoto you are using but the more recent versions can be opened in Aperture where you can easily sort on file size etc.. Presumably you do not have Aperture or you would have mentioned it but maybe you know someone who has and you could sort your database on their machine.
I can't see how Picasa will be any better than exporting copies of every photo to your a folder on your hard drive and sorting and re-importing from there.

Thanks I have iPhoto 9.6 but don't have access / know anyone who has Aperture .
I am hesitant to run Picasa as well as iPhoto in case i end up in a 'mess'
I don't have DVD on my IMAC so only way of getting aperture is to buy online which seems a waste as both iPhoto & Aperture are being replaced in 2015

Aperture is available in the App Store but I think it is a bit expensive just to do the job you want it for. Maybe if you wait for the so-called "Photos" app that will replace iPhoto it will solve your problem.
