My system is getting slower the more stuff that i use for my photo editing i sometimes have 3 programs open at the same time with lightroom 4, Photoshop cs6 and onone software. Have not got a lot of money to get another computer but if i can update a couple of items which will help then that would be great.

the processor has no effect on the amount of memory you can add.

the board has a limit of 4gb RAM. but even though you have 3.5 shown i expect you already have 4 installed but the 32bit version of windows you are running (?) has limited this down to its limit of 3.2 ish.

long and short of it, i would save your money and replace the whole thing.

Yup. CS6 chews memory. The 3.5GB(ish) that will be usable with a 32-bit O/S is limiting performance, and as pointed out your motherboard will only support 4GB max. You CPU will not be the limiting factor.

So new PC with 8GB+ and a 64-bit O/S is the way to go I feel.

Don't think it's worth the time and money trying to upgrade it. Some really good value pc's out there by companies such as chillblast. In fact just about to order a new one from them myself.
