Can I undo an iPhone hdr photo?
I'm looking after a friends place while on holiday and today a rather doggy looking van pulled in, as I walked over to it they sped off.
I took a pic of the back of the van but the phone is set to HDR and not keep the originals.
It has made a hash of the picture overlaying poorly.
Can it be undone?

I would imagine not as you woul dnot have access to the files that made up the image.

The bigger question is what you would do with the photo anyway unless you collect photos of 'doggy' looking vans for a hobby?

I wanted the reg number from the van.

To be honest, where I last worked (industrial estate), I used to see vans pull in all the time, a bloke would get out and change the plates then drive off. Police not interested at all......

Pik3ys are most likely to be doing dodgy stuff in vans and they almost certainly have a pile of fake plates to run with. They regularly hang out near mountain bike parks, waiting to follow you home if you've an expensive bike, you can run the plate and find out it belongs to a Nissan Micra.
Police ain't interested because going to a traveller site with less than 5 riot vans is suicidal.

Having the plate probably puts you at no advantage and I don't think it's possible to undo or recover that photo.... Sorry.

and what are you going to do with it?

Hopefully not phoning the police to tell them you saw a doggy looking van is a surefire way to get on their timewasters list.

Well it's the guys private house and its behind locked gates and I went in this morning to check all was ok, if tomorrow I go in and the place has been done l look a bit silly saying someone drove in yesterday while I was here and scarper'd when they saw me and I didn't think to get the reg.
but thanks for the help.

The part where they actually went into the houses drive wasn't clear, see the concern now. Even if the number plate did belong on a Vespa.

Sounds like someone knows your mate is away...

Richard,

give the police a ring on their non emergency line and report what you saw.

This sort of info is collated and you never know what has been going on in the area. The police can only act on information and sometimes it's the smallest snippet that yields the biggest results.

This ^^
Even a simple description could be useful, there might be existing cases with a similar vehicle involved or it could be the missing link in a big investigation.
