Can I match these two?

Hi everyone
I have a question. I own a Sigma 10-20mm lens and a 58 mm B+W circular 10 stop filter. Is there any adaptor that allows me to match the two?

Thanks

i'm sure a sigma 10-20 is a 77mm filter thread,and step up/down rings normally only allow for 1 size increment ie: 82-77 55-58 etc...certainly not a 58-77 ;)

Stack the step-down rings and viola, combined filter adapter and lens hood! :bonk:

Thanks all. I think step up rings might be a bit of a stretch so I'll have to shell out for a 77mm B+W. Worth an ask though.
Cheers

you could stack the rings as said but think it will show up some heavy vignetting /or shadow cast as its a uwa lens dont forget and it is a 77mm thread so its a big jump from 58-77 you would be better of going the 100mm square and using a slot holder

That's a good point. I have just bought a single step down ring that goes from 77mm to 58mm. I figured it is worth the £6.00 just to see how well it works. I will let you all know.

Err, how are you expecting a ultra wide angle lens that requires a 77mm front to get the necessary field of to be able to see out of a 58mm hole?

If you are VERY lucky it might work at 20mm but even then I'd be surprised...

Normally you use step-UP filters to allow you to use big filters over a small lens.

I've heard .port hole photography is the next big thing to take off!
Enjoy the constant vignette, I would be surprised if you get away with it at 20mm.

If I was you I would sell the B+W 58mm 10 stopper. The money you make from it would get you a brand new 77mm Haida pro II MC 10 stopper which are really good!

That Haida Pro looks quite good. Time to get my 58mm on Ebay I think.
