Is it ok to use a photo that you are selling on a micro stock site to enter competitions. Trust me thats not why I decided to join this site as my photos are not that good but I once joined a site that totally messed up my rights and I dont want to go through that again. Also if I put photos on gallery,can I take them off and can they be copied,do I need to place copyright name on it? Sorry I'm just learning and would love to be an active member here esp as there seems to be a lot of meet ups in Wales!!!!

You own the photograph so it's up to you to decide what you want to do with it. As far as the micro site is concerned you'll need to check the T&C's to see if there are any restrictions about using the image for other purposes. They may have an exclusivity clause, that prevents the images being used elsewhere whilst they host the image on their site

I would always add a copyright tag if the image could be used without your permission. However policing that on the internet may be difficult. I would suggest you post low res images, say 400 x 600 pixels, that way it's not really of sufficient quality for reproduction

The answer really depends on the T&Cs for the micro stock site and the competition. Either could have a restriction in place preventing the other use.

Presumably you mean the gallery here at TP? Yes you can delete them, yes they can be copied (as can any image you put online). Putting a copyright message on it doesn't give you any more rights. It does act as a reminder but can also spoil a shot so it's really down to personal choice.

Are you referring to the "Talk Photography Rules"? ie, you are not supposed to show the image anywhere else if it is in the comp? That is a site wide rule only I think. For example, I can use photos from my flickr account in the comp, as long as they have not been anywhere else on the Talk Photography site before.

I would take the advice others have given, you don't want trouble with your agency.
