Well it has been just over a year since being made redundant, not for the want of trying I have applied for anything and everything in that very long gap but with little or no response. Not only has my health been affected but all the usual stuff that goes with being unemployed. Jobseekers allowance stopped after six months but the strain it has put on me and the wife was huge, everytime the phone rang or a letter came through the door panic set in. Anyway today I was offered a full time job, it is delivering frozen and chilled products to pubs and restaurants. It is a six day week finishing between 14.00 16.00 on Friday and Saturday, from Mon to Thurs most of the drivers are back lunchtime so it is a job and finish:banana::banana: The routes I will be doing are spread out between towns in my area so the camera will be going with me at all times :D Once I have finished my round there is no rush to get back so I shall be able to park up at any spot I fancy :lol: Well thats enough dribble from me.

Tonight I shall be mostly drinking Brandy :nuts:

Congrats Rich. Ive been there myself and know all too well how it can get. Stress levels go through the roof :bang:

In the ying and yang of life you are now due some good times, so get stuck in and make the most of it. If you are anything like me, you wont take having a job for granted and your outlook will change.

Having time to take the camera along with you is one serious bonus, so even better.

well done mate, thank your wife for sticking by your side and supporting you, im sure you had good and bad times and you may have to repay the favour one day.

congrats - it's a toughie isn't it.

I was made redundant in July and have lost count of the applications I have made, and the number of pretty much useless job agencies I have applied to.

In that time have been offered 2 jobs.

1) contract work at £100 a day in Oxford. Hmm, distance between Norfolk and Oxford is? Less tax, less NI, less everything else......... Bit of a no brainer, but the jumped up numpty in his tesco suit at jobcentre+ couldnt see it that way.

2) A job with RBS where "occasional" travel transpired, after interview, to be up to 18 weeks away at a time mon-fri anywhere in the UK. Oh yeah and had to be there for mon am start and work through to friday night, so if I was say North of England or Scotland, get home about 2 am Sat morning to leave 2 pm Sat pm........

Hmm........

good news!!

now you dont have to listen to people telling you that their taxes pay your job seekers.
i used to take great pride in saying 'oh no it doesnt, i'm on contributions based job seekers, so my national insurance contributions pays for my jsa'
damn it was almost worth getting made redundant just so i could wipe the smiles off ill-informed faces :)
 
Well done Rich, the only downside is having to spend less time in your garden taking the great bird photo's that you do.
