Hi folk i have the standard Nikon 18 - 105 along with my main birdie lens a 70-300. I have found I rarely use the 18-105 much and even then only at short lengths often in poor light.

I would like to swap it for a shorter zoom maybe 18-70 tops but with bigger appature for the lower light but I am on a budget, i reckon the 18-105 is worth £100 used so I have maybe another £100 to chuck in.

What do people recommend, I have a D7000 body.

If you've only got £200, then a 2nd hand Tamron 17-50 2.8 (non-vc) is your best bet and within budget.

Depends how wide you need to go, I picked up a Nikon 35-70 f2.8 which I use on my D7000 and it's a good lens - small bit over £200.

35mm is a bit wide as its mainly low light indoor shots like pubs and don't want to use a flash. I did look at the Tamrons as well, ta.

I have a Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 which I picked up second hand on here last year for £190. Fantastic lens, pin sharp on everything i've used it for. Not sure if that would be wide enough for you though?

second vote for the tamron 17-50. Its hard to beat at that price.
