Can earwigs fly?

just wondered if earwigs can fly, some people at work think they do but I didnt think they could.
Its just that we live in a 3rsd storey flat and we seem to be plagued by the critters this year.Am having to shake the washing before bringing it in from our balcony .Funny thing is I'm terrified of the blinking things

According to wikipedia certain species can grow to 3 inches. That's impressive. Also, it's a wives tale that they burrow into your brain through the ear, although they are known to go into ears due to them being warm damp places.

I'm not a fan of them, they look pretty terrifying.

I'm okay with them, i just flick them if they get too close. I cant bloody stand wasps though!

Earwigs have wings (especially after a couple of Red Bulls) and can fly, but they just don't! They prefer to cadge a lift on people's washing.

Earwigs do indeed have wings.
They are pretty useless though, the muscles that are needed to use the wings are not developed enough to be strong enough for flight.
