Can anything be done.......?

Best thread in a long time, you're all either drunk, mad or just plain mean. Brilliant.

Anyway, I'm no expert on this type of photography but I feel it my duty to try and help the op with his dilemma. I felt that the original, although it had merit, lacked a focal point in the foreground and so the eye wandered through the image with nowhere to settle, so here's my take on it.....

This, I think you will agree, adds depth to the image whilst allowing the main theme to shine through.

Cheers

Andy

Now that is just pure class, absolute genius.
That must have taken hours in processing
I bow to your PS skills:naughty:

OP, you can't seriously expect us to help you if you haven't colour calibrated your monitor!

First thing I would say is to use the forum sizes allowed, or at least a link to the full size image.
I actually did a very similar shot as this. Got the idea in a magazine. I think they were sponsored by the manufacturer as there seemed to be a few of the same images throughout the magazine in an almost subliminal ad campaign.
Anyway here is the shot I did, hope you don't mind me posting on your thread. Just thought that any pointers you got could maybe help me too.

I thought about a mono conversion as you did but felt I was losing too much detail.
This was my first attempt at this kind of subject and with hindsight I should have used a tripod to help with sharpness. I think the exif is intact.

Well in spite of all the negative comments I still think it's a stroke of genius

Sorry but I actually prefer it in the negative

There don't you think that looks better! ;)

I know where you're coming from, I used to take pics using those myself... here's one with a few lightroom adjustments.... give me a shout if you need any tips...

Nice shot mate.
Could you explain the lighting set-up on this shot for us strobists. Im having a little trouble sussing out the catchlights in the eyes.
I think you should send the picture to that tv programme to try and get a guest slot in the next series, thats unless it wasnt taken with a Lumix.

Also, ALWAYS slash forwards.

Dean:)

I'm sorry, but viewing this on a blackberry did nothing for the shot.

I am now viewing this on the laptop, and it is much better.

However the wife's view is the opposite, you could say we are divided.

However we both agree that a simple frame around it improves it no end:

Oh B****r!, I only went and flipped it in processing!

Well on my colour calibrated monitor I think the OP's original effort is spot on.

Someone posts an already decent pic, and all you "photoshop gods" have to try and improve things.........
