Hi all,

I've got an old rather special photo that unfortunatly wasn't taken with the best conditions.
I've scanned it in on the best quality I can but I'm then wondering if it's possible to do anything with it to recover it, I've had a bit of a play but don't have anything like the skills many of you do, so what do you think?

Thanks

Ed :)

Is that how the image actually looks when you hold it in daylight? Is there any chance of access to the neg?

I don't think we have the neg anywhere unfortunately, the photo is about 25 years old.
This is how the print looks, it really is that bad :(

I tried to improve it using Snapseed but it requires more than that. I am sure it will never be a first class photo but it can be much improved.

Any chance of you sending me a high res scan? The one posted isn't big enough to work with.

I'm at a different office today, with no scanner so I'll try and do a higher res scan of it tomorrow.
Would a Tiff file be better than a JPG?

Thanks for the offers all :)

With damaged / poor negatives, a huge first step is making a scan that provides enough data to work with. The highest quality (Assuming you mean DPI) is one thing, but the exposure is quite another. Imagine you're exposing the scan like you would a photograph, and try to extract as much information from it as possible.

This is about as best I can do.......if its any good to you, let me know and I can send you a better resolution to what TP would let me upload.

I tried to dig as much out of the channels as I could.
