Can anyone recommend somewhere i can buy framed prints??

Hi all

I have someone wanting his prints to come framed but im not sure of anywhere that offers this, can anyone recommend anywhere please?

Many thanks :)

Don't know where you are in Essex but the framer on Chelmsford Market does an excellent job of mounting, framing and glazing a 16x12 print - all for £13. I've recently had 50 done for a forthcoming exhibition (and got a discount).

Regarding prints, I've found DSCL do as good a job as labs charging six times as much.

One thing to remember is mounting and finishing.

If you are putting a print in a mat are you going to just tape the print to the mount, or are you going to mount the print flat onto board? Both are valid - at the correct places in the market. You'll find, no matter where you go, that the cost of mounting the photo onto card is much more than the cost of the print - and if you choose a better substrate (which is needed for gloss and high gloss prints) even more still.

If you don't have a mount to stop the print from touching the glass remember to get lustre prints - as gloss will stick to the glass through time.

The issue of buying framed print through mailorder is that glass does not post well! Most ready framed online are either laminated or will use perspex (which is recommended for high value work anyway due to the fact it wont shatter and damage artwork if dropped).

For many people the best solution is to buy prints online - then get a good local framer to frame up (if its for higher value) or buy frames online or in local art stores and assemble yourself.

Yes! a big shout for the markets!

Very happy with EzeFrame BTW... Not got anything to compare them to, but happy with product & quality :)

I use the Ribba range of frames from IKEA. The customers like the black finish when used for B&W's with a black mount card. When I drive past one i usually buy 10 at a time and store them in the shed ready for use.

Prints in my house use the ribba frames. Have supplied them to clients also.

Yes... I just wish they did them in a 3:2 ratio with an 18"x12" cutout....

As far as I recall IKEA don't do a 10x8 either?

just looked at the prices on ezeframe - double what I pay from my local framer for the exact same frame! Think I'll stick with them. Worth just doing a search for your local framers.

My framer is also considerably better value whilst not compromising in quality.

Keep it local....support you local business
